Canada holds the title of the second largest country in the world, comprising of 10 provinces, beautiful landscapes, metropolitan cities and world-renowned universities listed in various global top lists known for the quality of education.
Canada Consistently Ranks as one of the most Immigration-Friendly Countries in the World
Canada also has one of the highest per-capita immigration rates in the world, admitting over 300,000 new permanent residents each year. This trend is expected to continue, even in light of the current global health crisis as Canada commits to welcoming over one million newcomers over the next three years. While a majority of new immigrants will be admitted through many economic immigration programs, Canada continues to be dedicated to family reunifications programs such as spousal or parental sponsorships, supervisa issuances, and continues to lead the world with refugee admissions.
The government of Canada appreciates and recognizes the contribution of immigrants to the well-being of Canada’s communities and across all sectors of the economy. The Canadian health-care system relies on immigrants to keep Canadians safe and healthy. Other industries, such as information technology companies and farmers and producers, also rely on the talent of immigrants to maintain supply chains, grow their businesses and, consequently, create more jobs for Canadians.
Immigration Processing During COVID-19 and Beyond
Despite the ongoing pandemic, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) continues to accept and process applications. Unfortunately, the global travel restrictions and capacity constraints have led to a shortfall in admissions over the last one year. In order to outweigh the shortfall and ensure Canada has the workers it needs to fill crucial labor market gaps and remain competitive on the world stage, the 2021 to 2023 levels plan aims to continue welcoming immigrants at a rate of about 1% of the population of Canada, including 401,000 permanent residents in 2021, 411,000 in 2022 and 421,000 in 2023.
The Government of Canada has confirmed that the Immigration process over the next three years will have a prime focus on economic growth, where approximately 60% of admissions are to come from the Economic Class. The 2021–2023 Immigration Levels Plan will help cement Canada’s place among the world’s top destinations for talent, creating a strong foundation for economic growth while reuniting family members with their loved ones and fulfilling Canada’s humanitarian commitments.
